Many writers fail and fall between the process of putting pen to paper and becoming published authors. Many never complete a book much less a series. In this article, you will discover a major secret that gets successful authors going.

If you want to be a successful writer, you must define your purpose for writing. So much goes into writing, from getting inspiration, interpreting them into right words and sentences, editing articles, etc; it is hard work. Stop expecting to do well when you do not have a clear reason for starting out in the first place. Define your motivation for becoming a writer. This forms your primary passion through the process of getting your work out to the public.

There are seven basic motivations for writing. They include;

  • Money:

Many people write to earn. In fact, you can make loads of money from writing articles, books, blog posts, etc. My Book: HOW TO WRITE FOR A LIVING, reveals various ways anyone can turn articles into cash.

  • Documentation:

Some people write basically to keep records of events. This is necessary for family history, organizational and corporate logistics, etc.

  • To Communicate Ideas and Opinions:

This I believe is the general reason why people write. You can expose people to new schools of thought and ideas through your articles and books.

  • Talents:

Some people are naturally gifted writers. Getting the inspiration is not a problem and getting the sentences right also comes naturally to them. When writing is a gift, you will write regardless of any kind of obstacle.

  • Boredom:

Some people write to overcome boredom. I have heard of people who wrote their first or best books while in prison. You could write as a quality way to invest your time.

  • To See Your Works in Print:

I know those whose joy in this field is just to see their works in print. They are not interested in the money or fame that comes with this field.

  • Hobby:

A few people write to develop the skill into a hubby; and it works. The more your discipline yourself to write, the better you become at it. So, write!

Define your motivation and get your pen back to paper.

Increasing Your Financial know-how (Part 1)

Increasing Your Financial know-how (Part 1)

It is neccesary you develop your mental capacity to attract, control and intelligently increase your finances. You can determine your financial outcome and steadily grow at it, when you understand the Basics of Financial Intelligence. Money has a language and until you can speak the language of money, you may earn much but lack productive cash flow. Financial Intelligence suggests that you can productively engage money to work for you and produce expected yields. I discovered after years of careful financial understudy that, it is possible to earn much and yet stay poor.

It is not how much you earn that primarily determines your financial stability but how much you are able to produce from what you earn.

Money is not the printed paper we carry about; money is the value attached to the various denominations we have. Money has the potential to grow and diminish depending on the carrier’s understanding of financial handling. You can grow from financial nothingness into plenty by observing certain principles that command the multiplication of money. Years back in the higher institution, I decided to get better in financial matters. So I sought knowledge and started improving myself in the area of financial intelligence. As a young entrepreneur, I discovered I needed to treat money wisely so I gave attention to proper financial records. I got a small book where I recorded every amount that I received and spent everyday. It was funny and quiet tasking but it was worth every effort. At the end of the month, I did a sum of the total cash that came as income from my monthly allowance as a student, gifts from here and there . Then, I did not only have a thorough analysis of how much I expended, but my statement also revealed what particulars too away most of the cash I received. It was obvious that as a student I was getting so much money; and many students earn more than civil servants; but at the end of the month, I had little to show for it. Realising the bad state of my financial mentality was my first benefit. I had to enforce a change by restrategising the way I handled money, and today that decision is paying off.

I have a goal to help anyone interested in becoming better at ensuring money does not waste away in your possession but multiplies in your hands. I am running a Financial Intelligence Masterclass, where I will be revealing Cash management tricks, Cashflow secrets and Investment strategies that have taken me years to learn. They are proven and worth more than the cost of purchase. Until you are willing to be better in the way you handle money, you may have many opportunities and earn well but never be able to genuinely say you are making financial progress.

My Financial Intelligence Masterclass comes with a 50% Discount for Registrations received before 31st December 2018. I guaranty a 2018 of Financial Increase in multiples for everyone who registers. What are you waiting for, visit:

As global economic news reveals an increase in instability, it becomes more essential that we increase our capacity to manage and multiply finances. In 2018, things could get tougher for salary earners who have refused to increase in financial intelligence.

As the year begins this week, you have a good opportunity to learn certain keys that can help you plan skilfully and gain a better financial stand in the year. Give attention to the following strategies;

A budget is a financial plan clearly stating your financial commitments and how your expected income will be shared to meet stipulated needs.

  • Expected Income: A budget is done before the money arrives.
  • Financial Commitments: Allocate percentages of your expected income for stipulated needs.

A budget helps you ensure you stay committed to your financial needs (necessities), while trimming out your financial wants. Remember however that, a budget is very effective without a determination to be disciplined.

If you cannot live within a low income that you earn, you will likewise find it impossible to live within a “large” income when you begin to earn it. Ensure you;

  • Stop buying what you do not need.
  • Stop living to impress people, no matter how close.
  • Learn how to kill your appetite.

Financial Freedom is not a function of what you earn, but your capacity to multiply your earnings.

Yes, it could be difficult to save money. But certain strategies make savings possible;

  • Use a Thrifts company for savings
  • Join a small group that contribute money monthly. This way, you are sure to save up a large sum you will collect from everyone in the group at an agreed date.
  • Use Contingency Accounts: bank accounts you open for specific purposes. Open an acoount for savings, another for family expenses, etc.
  • Stop consuming all that you earn.
  • Every income you earn (no matter how much), has three parts:
  1. God Part: Tithes, Offerings, Welfare to the needy, etc.
  2. Bread Part: The part of the income you spend to meet your needs. These include; personal needs, education, family expenses, etc.
  3. Seed Part: The part you need to set apart in order to multiply cash. These include; savings, investments, partnerships, etc.

NOTE: Savings cannot make you rich!!! You save money for the purpose of reinvestment.

“You need at least 5 channels of income in order to be financially free in Nigeria” Albert Aina

  • God did not fashion us for monthly income. It is entrepreneurship that opens you up to daily income (Daily Bread). My Father Inlaw (an Igbo man), once told me: “Government job puts food on your table, but Business makes you rich”

Common Pathways to Entrepreneurship

  1. Produce, Market and/or Sell a product(s)
  2. Offer a Service
  3. Partnership

I will like to commend science for its accomplishments and contribution to the modern human world today. Through our knowledge of science, we have become more conscious of our physical world and relate with it in such a way that makes life easier. Through the discoveries of Plato, Albert Einstein, Robert Hooks etc., man has succeeded at creating a world with vast possibilities.  However, despite this fact when we take a panoramic view of our world today, it wouldn’t be difficult to find traces of dysfunction in the systems of humanity that questions some of the assumptions and conclusions of science. Science tells us for instance, that anything that cannot be subject to experiment cannot be established as a fact. It also tells us that any belief that is not hypothetically consistent with the unequivocal laws of physics and empirical realities of philosophy, are all but raw conclusions drawn out of emotional imagination. As a result, man’s philosophy makes certain postulations that I find quite disturbing. Because they hardly give room for exemptions, I believe the greatest misunderstanding of man is the belief that he understands everything, and the greatest mistake of human science is the belief that it will never make one.

It is against this controversial backdrop however that I raise the question on the subject of corruption. Is everybody corrupt? Sadly I have sat before intellectuals, clergy men as well as industrialist to discuss subjects bordering on the integrity and transparent tendencies of men. Unfortunately for me, the answer I always get to this infamous question was always on the negative. Corruption is perceived as a dysfunction that no man can confidently say is free of, and as such it becomes a practical impossibility to be exempt from it.

It is conclusions of this nature that drove me to the pages of history and rummage through the maze of research in addition to the sleepless nights of bible study to demystify (if you will call it that) the probing subject matter of corruption and perhaps succeed at uncovering the impasse that makes it a complex issue. I struggled hard to come to grasp with the proposition that ‘everybody is corrupt’. I discovered from years of observation that one of the root cause of the continuous and contagious degeneration of moral standards in our nation is the very belief that everybody is corrupt. The problem with such a belief lies not in the political or philosophical incorrectness or correctness of the statement, neither is it found in the realistic accurateness of the belief. The problem actually lies in the multiplier effect of such a conclusion. What do I mean by that? It is very simple. When one man believes that everybody is corrupt, he automatically becomes corrupt (even though he wasn’t corrupt initially) because it programs him at the spot. In turn, he passes the virus to the next man, while the next man passes it to the next. And on and on it goes until an entire nation is caught in the pattern and practice of corruption. 2 Pet 2:4-8 Scripture tells us that even Lot was almost caught up in the pattern because he lived among a perverse and crooked generation.

However from my research, I found many flaws in the proposition that everybody is corrupt. For example, there were this three Hebrew boys in historic kingdom of Babylon during about 600BC. Their names were Shadrack, Mishack and Abadnego. They refused to bow to the image of gold set up by the corrupt king Nebudchanezzar. While the entire nation bowed, they chose to be an exception to the rule. This I find to challenge the proposition that everybody is corrupt.

Noah also found himself in a similar situation where the entire generation was perceived to be corrupt; Gen 5. Noah’s refusal to take rank with the rest of the evil world under the popular evil maxim which says, ‘If you can’t beat them, join them; tthrows another compelling offset to the proposition that everybody is corrupt.

Daniel is another inspirational character in history that poses another ruthless challenge to the belief that everybody is corrupt. As first of the three  governors of  a gentile kingdom, the \Holy scriptures tells us that he was distinguished in governance. ‘He was preferred above the presidents and princes because an excellent spirit was found in him’ Dan 6:3 {accountability is an antidote to corruption}. Daniel’s disposition to transparency and integrity immediately brought him on a collision course with his colleagues at work. Taking a stand against evil will always put you on the hot seat. Evil men feel threatened because of your refusal to take rank with their lifestyle. They feel your uprightness is exposing them ( I wish we will have more lights in Nigeria today)

It is my conviction tonight that one righteous man in a corrupt system is all that God needs to change the system. Because that one man will blithe the evil scheme of wicked men.

Even when they plotted against Daniel, he didn’t fight, because he knew that any attack against an honourable man of integrity is a direct assault on the creator. In the end, corruption was ejected from the system and incorruption was established.

Therefore, the conclusion is this: There is an exception to the rule of corruption as well as exemption from the practice of it.

Let us consider certain concepts and laws of corruption

  1. Corruption originated in Lucifer (Ezek28)
  2. Man inherited corruption( Therefore corruption is hereditary in nature)
  3. Corruption came through the subtlety of deception
  4. Corruption is multipliable: That means it has the tendency to reproduce itself. One act of sin is all it takes to erase an entire history of good.
  5. There is no excuse for being corrupt
  6. The effects of corruption is more powerful than the consequences of corruption: The pull of corruption is such that it programs the minds to accept the pattern it has created. It is called the power of sin.
  7. Corruption is highly contagious
  8. Religion cannot cure corruption: It will take more than personal discipline, self righteousness, and religious do’s and dont’s to be cured from the power of corruption
  9. The only cure to corruption is the cross: The Blood of Christ brings reconciliation to God, and the cross delivers, not just from the ACT of sin, but from the POWER of sin.

From dictionary standpoint, IT MEANS

  1. To be morally impaired
  2. Depraved in mind and heart

III. An altered version of an original

The literal meaning has to do with distortion, decomposition, degeneration, pervasion, putrefaction and soul depravity.

It is the act of corrupting or of impairing integrity virtue or moral principle; the state of being debased; loss of purity or integrity.

It also means to be crooked and depraved in mind; to be morally degenerate.

In computing, it means the destruction of data by manipulating parts of  it, either by deliberate or accidental human action or by imperfection in storage or transmission media.

From this definitions, one thing becomes obvious, and that is corruption is an effect from a cause. It means there was an ORIGINAL standard that was moved away from. Because these definitions imply that corruption is a departure from something. That means that the corruption in man was not man’s original state. In Genesis. We were told that God created man incorrupt.(But not incorruptible). Something made man incorrupt. And that is the real issue. It is the root that produces the tree.

Man was originally created in a perfect image, until the tempter came and planted an evil seed.

If a corrupt seed is in a man, such a person will produce corrupt fruit. John the Baptist said ‘bring forth fruit meant  for repentance.’ This is why we cannot exempt the subject of seed from the discourse on corruption. 1 John 3:9 “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remained in him; and he cannot seen because he is born of God”.

What is a seed? It is a law. A mental programming. A genetic programming. A software system of the mind. You don’t blame the behaviour you see in people. You blame the mental disposition producing it.  A monkey acts like a monkey for instance, because he his programmed by birth to act that way. In computing, you don’t blame the corrupt file, blame the virus.

Satan carried out a strategic onslaught on human race by choosing to target the patriarch of the entire human race. Because once he was corrupt, the entire unborn generation is corrupt.

The most critical time in the history of human existence was Genesis 3:1-6 “And when the woman saw that the three was GOOD FOR FOOD, and that it was PLEASANT TO THE EYES, and a tree DESIRED TO MAKE ONE WISE, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband with her; and he did eat.”

Notice three indices here. She saw that the tree was:

  1. Good for food
  2. Pleasant to the eyes
  3. And desired to make one wise.

This is the womb that gives birth to all the lust in man’s heart. It is the womb of corruption.

2Pet 1:4 “Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by therse ye might be partakers(no partake) of the divine nature, having esc aped the CORRUPTION that is in the world through LUST”.

What is this lust? It is the same found in 1John 2:15-16 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the LUST of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the father, but is of the world”.

It is the same indices in Genesis 3. They are what i call the three basic drive of man.(What Maslow call the basic need of man)

  1. The drive for survival and carnal pleasure (Good for food – Lust of the flesh)
  2. The drive for material acquisition (pleasant to the eyes – lust of the eyes
  3. The drive for love, power and respect (desire to make one wise – pride of life)

These are the basic drive that gives birth to corruption in the world. I consider them as the greatest weakness of mortal men. They inform what man is living for. They give us a sense of purpose and direction in life. It is the object of our greatest pursuit in life. They are the reason humanity is corrupt today.

In our country today, corruption has become a huge mountain that appears unmovable, a bottomless pit that continues to sink the nation and heavy bondage that has impeded progress up to a point that it seems as though there is no solution.

The rise of public administration and the discovery of oil and natural gas (porpularly known as the oil boom)are two major events seen to have triggered the increase of corrupt practices in the country. In 2012, Nigeria was estimated to have lost over $400 billion to corruption since independence. That’s enough to feed the entire African continent.

Government had tried to contain the menace through the enactment of certain laws and the enforcement of integrity systems, yet the impact is not felt. Because you cannot legislate incorruption.

One of the major causes of corruption in the country is the rat race for ostentatious lifestyle and the desire to materialism. As a result, it gives birth to greed and covetousness. People see reward and gain as ‘breakthroughs’ regardless of the moral disposition of the process. Wealth is therefore gain at the expense of public good.

Another cause for corruption is the desire to impress. The reward that the gain will bring one into a status popularly called ‘My levels don change’ makes corruption very attractive. It is now a common phrase to say ‘no dull your sef o’ or ‘i must hammer’ These languages provide the impetus to engage in  corrupt practices.

Yet, the question i often aske myself is what do we use this ‘gains for’?

In the ancient world of civilization, there was corruption. Gen 6 God saw that the earth was corrupt. “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually”

In verse 11 “The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence”

The children of Israel corrupted themselves at the mount Sinai Ex 32:7 “And the Lord said unto Moses, Go get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves” {see also Deut 9:12}

What did they do to corrupt themselves? They turned to idol worship.

Therefore, corruption is usually associated with idol worship.

Deut 4:16  and 25; 32:5

Joshua 2:19

Solomon was corrupted by his many strange wives 1Kings 11:1-4

Materialism usually spurs men on to corruption. The craze for wealth and affluence. The promise of power and respect. And The success it brings.

Home! What a beautiful word. A very important word indeed.

Home: the birthplace of life, the foundation of every society, a characteristic of even the most primitive ideas of man’s existence.

Home: the place we all return to everyday after all our toiling and struggle under the sun.

Home: the place we all hope to find joy, peace, contentment, laughter, and love.

Home: the one place where you are ALWAYS welcome.

However, our dreams about the place we call home are not always the reality we get to experience. Some people dream of quiet tranquil homes and come back to strife-filled homes. Some other people dream of a home full of joy and laughter, but each time they look around them, they see only sadness. There are many things that can cause such situations; but most of the time, the reason many people find that their homes are not as pleasant as it should be is because the people in that home are not taking up to their responsibilities as they ought to.

Every home is made up of a family. A family can be likened to a body. A body is made up of different parts with different functions, e.g. eyes, nose, legs, ears, hands, mouth, stomach, etc. The whole body is happy as long as everybody does their job: the legs walking well, the hands moving, the eyes seeing, and so on. But whenever any part of the body decides that it is no longer interested in doing what is expected of it, definitely, the whole body will suffer.

In the same vein, most families would be home-sweet-homes indeed, if every member locates and lives up to their areas of responsibility. And God is not an author of confusion. When He created families, He gave every member their responsibility – just as He did when He created the body. And just as the parts of the body seem to automatically know what they are meant to do, without being told, members of families also ought to know their duties!

However, for the avoidance of doubt, let us look at some of the duties and responsibilities of individuals in a home. We will start from the head.

  1. Husbands/ Fathers: The husband/father of the house is the God ordained head of the house (Ephesians 5: 23). His position is compared to Christ’s position as head and saviour of the Church. As the head, he has an overall responsibility to whatever happens in the home. He is the saviour of the family. It is his duty to save them from hunger, nakedness and the elements (1Timothy 5:8). He is accountable and responsible for the happenings in and to the family whether good or bad; it is therefore his duty to make decisions and take actions towards the overall good of the family (1Timothy 3:5). He is expected to do all within his power to make his family members as happy and comfortable as can be.
  2. Wives/ Mothers: If the man is the head, then the woman is the torso. She contains all the sensitive aspects of the home, and out of her proceeds the other parts of the family, namely, the children. The woman is the heart, the emotion of the home. She determines the atmosphere, the aura of the home environment (Proverbs 12: 4). If she is full of virtue, laughter, singing, merriment and hospitality, it will reflect in the home (Proverbs 15: 13); if on the other hand, she is saucy, moody and always seeking quarrels, it will also reflect in the overall atmosphere of the home (Proverbs 21: 9 & 19, Proverbs 27: 15). It is the duty of the mother to make good use of whatever the father brings home, and whatever she herself can bring, to make the home as welcoming as possible for the family members (Proverbs 14: 1). If she is neat, everyone will enjoy it. If she is comfortable in dirty surroundings, everyone will suffer it. If she is financially prudent, it is to everyone’s benefit, and vice versa. The man gets a house; she transforms it into Home-Sweet-Home. He brings home the kill; she turns it into a meal. He brings money; she uses it to get what they need. On the whole, the woman’s responsibility is to take whatever comes to the family and turn it into beauty. She receives seed, and brings forth harvests, including children.
  3. Children: These are often the offspring of a marital union, the seal of God’s blessing on a family. They also have their responsibilities. Their number one responsibility is obedience (Ephesians 6: 1 and Colossians 3: 20). This makes it easier for the parents to care for and protect them. Children that refuse to obey often fall into all manner of problems bringing untold heartaches and hardships to their families. It is also the duties of children, as they grow older, to help their parents however they can. With time, they become the hands and legs of the family, doing most of whatever needs to be done, and going on errands for the elders. Obedient and hard-working children bring much joy to their family.

A blissful home is made up of members who do not shy away from their responsibility. As a member of a family, what do you know are your duties, and what steps are you taking to ensure that you play your part towards the overall joy of your family? An extended family is blissful when it is made up of many blissful nuclear families. A society’s condition is largely determined by the condition of the families that form it. An individual’s future is often traceable to the kind of family he/she grew up in. You can start now to do whatever you can to make this Nation a better place; you can start from your home.

UNCLE BEN: Come here, you must be mad! Who do you think you are talking to? Am I your mate, or is there something wrong with your head?

AUNTY MARIAM: It is you that is mad; you think I will continue to take all this nonsense in the name of marriage. If you slap me, I swear, I will slap my own back. Try me; just try me.

(she launches towards him aggressively)

So because I went for choir rehearsal… Are you not the youth leader? Did you not know I would be in church? Should I divide myself into two because you are hungry?

UNCLE BEN: hmmm, I warn you ooo… Titi, see the way your aunty just spoke to me, you better talk to her, because if I lay my hands on her…, you know me, you know me very well…

This is what I watch every other day at my aunt’s house. I simply can’t explain what happened. I remember vividly how lovey-dovey aunty and uncle were while courting. I admired them so much. Their wedding ceremony was so colourful, and yes, I remember when they were exchanging nuptial vows, you could almost hear a pin drop, the love in their eyes was so magical. I wept so much on their wedding day; tears of joy at the happiness they had found in each other. Here I am today, weeping again, this time out of total confusion, wondering what happened… what went wrong.

All I could see was anger and hatred, where did the love go? I ask myself. Honestly, I am scared, if this is marriage, then I would rather…

Marriage as divinely ordained by God is sweet and interesting. God never intended marriage to be hell on earth. It was originally created for bliss, companionship, support and love.

Marriage like every other endeavour to be embarked upon must be carefully and prayerfully prepared for. The mistake with many young people today is satisfaction with immediate pleasures and forgetting what the future awaits, when marriage will make plain what we chose not to see at the beginning. Preparation for marriage cannot and must not be treated with levity. Many have said that marriage starts from the day you agree to marry that person and not from the day you say ‘I do’.

This is not to give room for immorality in courtship, but as a wake-up call to equipping young people for the journey they choose to embark upon.

How do you prepare for Marriage?

  • Choose Prayerfully: The truth is this, your choice of marriage partner or spouse, determines how sweet or bitter your marriage will be. Be careful not to get carried away by outward appearances, whether the fellow is looking overly spiritual or otherwise. The Holy Spirit should be your Chief-guide in the decision of a marriage partner. He knows all things, sees all things and can reveal all things. Many have said, “the Bible says, ‘he that finds a wife ….’  So we must find”.  The truth is that you can seek the help of the Holy Spirit to find, so that you don’t test run all the ladies in your church or neighbourhood, until you become a topic of discuss among people. Likewise, ladies can prayerfully present their suitors before God. Many couples are fighting battles and carrying crosses not meant for them, simply because they refused to seek God’s face before crossing the line of singlehood. Some battles are not meant for you, God knows your ability and what befits you. Avoid problems for yourself and simply seek God. Ask God, He is more than willing to help, show you and teach you.
  • Develop Yourself: Seek to get better and improve yourself. Development could be intellectual, spiritual, academic, physical and emotional, depending on the need. Where you are now is not the best, you can be better. Attend seminars, read books on marriage, finance, and all areas of interest. Your relationship should be for mutual development and not one-sided. Develop in yourself the Godly traits you want to see in your partner, deal with issues of anger, pride, selfishness etc. In all, ensure you are getting better.
  • Talk! Talk!!  Talk!!! : Courtship and relationship is not meant for fun alone. It is a time of discovery. Intending spouses should take the time to talk and know more about each other. Things like family background, ideas, vision, purpose, passion, spirituality, the past (including achievements and mistakes), the future.
  • Pray Together: Prayer is very key, and should not be toyed with. I heard this some time ago and it has stuck with me ever since; ‘Pray so that you will not become a prey’ Commit your plans to God. Pray for each other and about everything. When you pray together;

            – You gain clarity

            – You plan better

            – You fight spiritual and physical battles

           – You are assured of victory

           – You are assured of God’s backing in the journey ahead

  • Counselling: Seek counsel from people you and your intended spouse can stay accountable to. They should be born again Christians you can trust explicitly, who would not discuss your affairs indiscriminately. They are not meant to be interlopers in your relationship, but to serve as guides who will tell you the truth at all times. They must also have marital proofs, not a marriage without trials, but one that has stood its ground and blossomed in the face of trials.
  • Flee Sexual Immorality: Pre-marital sex is not just a sin but a violation of God’s command for His children. Not only does it bring you in trouble with God, it is a spiritual bond and may also bring upon one, many physical and health challenges. It pays to control all lust and raging sexual appetite. Do not let anyone deceive you by telling you there are no virgin ladies and even guys anymore. Do not get into a test run to affirm your sexuality, you are not a lab rat!  Any man or woman that truly loves you should be able to respect your desire to remain undefiled till your wedding night. If you have indulged in pre-marital sex, you can repent of your sins and flee completely. I tell you categorically today, many have guarded themselves from sexual lusts till their wedding night, you can do it too.
  • Be Productive, Get Busy: Keep your hands busy; equip yourself with relevant skills that would help you earn a living. Courtship is not a period to spend every free time together. On the contrary, it is a season of temptations. As familiarity sets in, you may find it easier to sin, except you uphold God’s word and caution each other. It is therefore necessary to engage your mind, time, efforts in productive ventures. It is also needful you have a regular channel of income. It may be little, but consistency should bring growth. Be productive and flee idleness.

Most importantly, do not be afraid. Marriage is not to be feared but to be enjoyed. God is able to see you through. ONLY TRUST HIM.

A recession is a significant decline in activities across the economy, lasting longer than a few months. Its effect is visible in industrial production, employment, real income, wholesale and retail trade. The technical indicator of recession is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth as measured by a country’s gross domestic product (GDP).

Our dear country Nigeria seems to have been going through this for some time now. It is an obvious problem, many groups and individuals are affected. But it is not an excuse for penury. In fact, it is an opportunity for some to grow. I know several companies and individuals that have grown bigger as a result of the current recession.

Genesis 1:14-18, 8:22. Changes in times and seasons is a constant in our world. There will always be years of plenty and years of lack. What you do with the plenty could determine your lot in the years of lack. The story of Joseph in Egypt (Genesis 41:1-52) stands out in the explanation of this principle. Joseph had great management skills. Under him, Egypt faired well, saved well and wasted less in the years of plenty. From their abundant savings, Egypt was not stranded in the years of lack. In fact, Egypt had great economy as they enjoyed much foreign exchange. Egypt was prepared for recession. The preparation saved them and generated much wealth for them in recession. Preparation is key in being on top of the situation (recession). At one level of success, begin to plan how you can survive without your current means.

Without the invention of alternative sources of light, we will be stranded at night when the sun ceases to give its light. Night has no effect in your compound if it is flooded with light. Valid ideas overrule the effect of recession. It was Joseph’s idea of savings that overruled recession in Egypt.  You can trust God for ideas that will put you in a vantage class this season.

Psalms 1:11-3 A tree located beside a river is not troubled by dry season. Some people are immune to recession. This is because of proximity and access to the Source of life and every good thing. JOIN US!

The year 2017 is a year of RESURRECTION, Matt. 28:1-6. The LORD has assured us that, as others are going down, we would be going up. The hardships that many experienced in 2016 are just a brief, compared to what many more will face in this new year, and so God’s covenant assures us that we would enjoy His lifting. We would live above the realm of these hazards, only hearing about gross darkness in the world. Our light would shine even greater and kings will come to the brightness of our rising.

Every year is like a season, and there is a secret to succeeding in every season. What is the secret to success in 2017?

Job 29:12-17:

“Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem. I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame. I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out. And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth”. KJV

Isa 32:8:

“But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand”. KJV

The secret to success in 2017 is Generosity. The key to prevailing over the financial holocaust coming on the world in 2017 is Liberality. If you commit yourself to raise the standard of life for those who are helpless, you will enjoy your daily supplies directly from Heaven’s kitchen.

Commit to helping the poor, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, forgiving offenders, speaking and standing up for the helpless, defending orphans and caring for widows. This was Job’s secret to financial honour, it is God’s wisdom for rising above the gross darkness in this season.

This is dramatic! As financial recession looms, and many more logical reasons abound to keep funds to yourself; God’s wisdom is directing in a better way. Use every opportunity that comes your way to lift people’s standard of living. Use your office, influence and resources to put smiles on the faces of others, far and near. Many would face hardships; we would therefore have many opportunities to bless others. As for many that walk in this light, they will enjoy God’s honour instead of hardships.

How do you practise giving and generosity?

  • Tithing: Do not withhold from God, that portion of your earning He has requested. Tithing opens Heaven to release ideas for your breakthrough and rebukes wasters. This is 10% of your earning. It is always tight for those who refuse to tithe. Mal. 3:10.
  • Kingdom Advancement Seeds: These are Sacrifices, Offerings and Freewill resources at gatherings and meetings at will. You decide the quantity of freewill offerings per time.
  • First Fruit Offering: This is your first earning in the year or your best income in a series of business transactions. First fruit secures financial overflow. Prov. 3:9-10.
  • Welfare Offering: This is anything you give to support those in need, the hungry, orphans, widows, etc. This is God’s heartbeat for us in 2017. Make life better for those in need!

God bless you!
